I'm from that area! Well, Ft. Worth/Weatherford/Mineral Wells... I'm at Sill now, so if anyone is looking to waste some time out that way definitely let me know!

my jeep has never been to TX actually. I bought it here at Ft. Sill, it even has OK plates on it... gross! I'd like to get it down to roll around in that area sometime.

tx_medic,

My second family (in-laws) are from that area as well. I'll be in Weatherford alot when I get back this summer. Any time anyone wants to plan a trip this fall, let me know...

ha! I graduated from w'ford... about ten years ago, but still. Still have a dad with a machine shop in town, matter of fact. Certainly let me know when you're gonna waste some time down around there and if I'm available, I'll be there.

......AND, Dirtwarrior was stationed at Ft Sill for a few years! lol (he's my brother)

Hey, tx_medic, how's Ft Sill these days? I was there for five years, but now I'm recruiting. I kind of hope to get back to good old Lawton/Fort Sill.

If you like to hunt and fish, this is the place to be. Otherwise if you're gonna live here you'd better like hip-hop music and fat chicks.

it's really not all that bad, I keep busy at home and at work people usually just leave me alone. no one really wants to piss off the medic in a unit that goes to the field ALL THE TIME.

nope. 479th. we train the cats getting ready to head overseas. my BN gets 'em for a week of IED and MCP training. When the wet bulb is maxed out well beyond Heat Cat V, there can be some real long training days out here. I don't care how "seasoned" you are or what your last duty station was. Last summer I worked almost 86 days straight, and the summer before that it was closer to 100. We were undermanned and overworked... Everyone gets worn down out here. Hell, I'm the medic and I had to take myself to the ER for a fluid change that first summer.

Lately hasn't been so bad though, lots of down time. Most of which I spend doing chemistry homework and turning wrenches on the jeep. Come the fall I'll be hunting almost every day.

Ewww, Sorry about the hot weather. I sure don't miss that sh*t. It got up to 90 once here so far this summer. Almost NEVER hits 100.

ahh, MN. My girl used to live up there and never shuts up about it. I've got a buddy of mine from AIT that lives up in Madison, WI who has the same disease. I miss the north, I do.

I think we've had triple digits down here for about two months now??? a few cool days from rain, but for the most part you can count on melting anything left in the car... like my beret the day before the BDE COC!
