Awright,
Going to have a guy redo my brakes for me (no conversion yet just stock replacement stuff), and figured I could have him cover the diffs for me while it's easier to get at...
Brand preference anyone?
Mostly mud, but some roks once in awhile.....
ARB, SOLID, ROCKRUSHER or Superlift
Axles still stock AMC20 and D30.
Thnx for input.

Tex is right. I did my own in my driveway without lifting the vehicle at all. Took about 15 minutes total for both. If you have a jeep club up that way, post something on their board and see if anyone will pitch in to help you. Offer them some pizza and they may show up to help with the brakes.

He knew I wanted to put them on anyways, and he suggetsed now would be a good time.
Thanks for the looking out tho guys.
PS I belong to PoorBoyzJeepClub, and all I'd have to do is offer beer n pizza (after the work is done of course!) LOL

I put a 'SOLID' cover on my D30, it's beefy! Weighs like 10 pounds. For the rear AMC 20, I built one. The stock 30 cover isn't bad, but the M20 cover is like tinfoil, doesn't take alot to damage it. I found out on the trail, ended up pulling the cover, pounding it out, fixed the hole with some JB weld, and refilled it with the oil we cuaght in som empty pop bottles. All this in the middle of the trail! After that, I built this:

And the front, kind of...

Smart trail fix. The guard came out really good.

The Rockcrusher one for my 8.8 weighs 14 lbs. That thing is a beast, therefore, I'm going to be partial to what I know.

Thanks for all the input guys.
I think for now I'll go with the guards like miljeep has, and HillBillE made.
I have a pair of D44s from a Scout in the garage that will be rebuilt/upgraded, and will probably put on the SOLIDS (aka RockCrusher) like yours Chris.
thnx

Rockcrusher sold out to Solid so "Same-Same" when you talk about them, except on MAJOR DIFFERENCE the Solid appears to come with Hex Head Screws where the Rockcrusher came with regular Grade 8 bolts. Fine and dandy except that a wrench or socket can not be used to torque to the proper rating due to the construction. From the pics I have seen SOLID fixed that buffoonery.
I use to have a Warn diff skid on the D30 and have no real complaints on the form or function. In my opinion most on the market will work fine (except for that thing MilJeep has) for their intended purpose and it comes down to personal preference. (Just kidding MilJepp- that Diff Doc will work fine but you have to admit I had you worked up for a second!)

Judging from these pics the bolt issue was not fixed by SOLID... O2TJ, can you put a socket on the bolts to torque them to a specific requirement; say if using a Lube Locker Gasket?
I saw Chris's, they are solid as hell, but being that they are cast, can they crack on a sharp impact? Covers or guards are my next step and I'm looking around and listening to y'all...

If you go with the Rock Crushers, go with Jeff from Adrenaline. I know he just received about 40 of them just the other day :)

Yeah. I believe SOLID bought out Rock crushers. I know a lot of guys on the MNJeep.com forums have been waiting for months to recieve a crusher cover. No return e-mails, or empty promises so far. "It's shipping out tomorrow"
My D30 solid came with the allen type screws, lock washers and even an allen wrench and a tube of RTV. I sent in a card (that came with the covr) for a free T-shirt back in Dec, but haven't heard anythig.
It culd be becuase I won the cover at an off road event, so I didn't have a copy of a sales reciept. I wrote a note exlpaining that, and sent the card. What the heck, I like free T-shirts, maybe it will still show up!:D

Well, I guess the buffoonery continues.......but the guys still waiting for Rockcrusher Diff Covers will be waiting for a long, long, long time. Right before the company went under the Diff Covers were being sold for $60 bucks.
