Im getting ready to move to Fla over the summer due to my wifes medical condition the doc suggested we move to a warmer place. We wanted to stay on east coast so we decided on Fla. I have never been to Fla and had never considered moving there so I need some suggestions on nice places to raise a Family. I know its a big state but an help to narrow down choices would be helpful.

It is not cheap and Jobs are hard to find. I live in Davie that is west of Ft. Lauderdale I like it and we have a lot of places to Wheel and hunt from 30 miles away and up. And if you like Fishing your at home..

It depends on what you're looking for. I'm originally from SW FL, but have lived in NW FL for a few years. FL has a lot to offer. If you want to be next to the beach, be inland and have some land, live in the panhandle so you're close to the woods, etc. What type of area are you looking for and maybe I could help you out.

I am from the west coast about an hour north of Tampa. Citrus County a small but fast growing county with lots to offer if you are into the out doors. Hey check out this web site www.citrusjeepers.com

Hey Dragon/Javelin dude...did they specify warm and humid, warm and dry, or just plain warm? FL is stupid humid...if she needs warm and dry, you might want to consider the southwest...also the wheeling is MUCH better.

No shit! That was going to be my suggestion. I grew up there.
Nice family area, great beaches. 2 hrs to Orlando, Daytona and West Palm.
The housing market in Vero is rock bottom right now, so you could find a great place at a great price compared to what we pay up here.
As far as police jobs, you've got Vero PD and Sheriffs office, Sebastian PD, Ft Pierce Pd.
Oh, and Sebastian Inlet has some pretty good surfing.

I'm stationed in Pensacola (panhandle). It's okay. I wouldn't live IN the town of Pensacola, but the surrouding area is nice. Perdido Key & Destin are VERY nice. Beaches and fishing are UNREAL!! There are bases close by as well. I live out the back gate of NAS. Real Estate is a great deal down here now and is slowly on the way back up. I bought my house 2 months ago for $140K (1650 sq ft built in '98) three years ago it sold for $175K. I can't imagine values dropping any more than they have here. Like I said, I think we're on the upward sweep now. Worst case scenario, I can't sell my house when I PCS and I rent to student pilots and they pay my mortgage. I will ALWAYS have renters living 1/2 mile from the back gate. There's Wheeling at Eglin AFB, Blackwater river, and Boggs and Boulders. It does get humid during the summer but it's not all that bad. NC is worse. Winter is nice, not to chilly but nice and cool. Light jacket in the evenings.
