Another Open Wheeling Weekend at Crozet. (posted the info below in a quote)
So who is in?
I'm going to do my best to go and do it all again. Still getting the Cow Beast ready for another run. Probably will do a Dry River shakedown run for her beforehand.
If you like rocks you will love Crozet.
My experience there was a blast.
I will say though, there are no 'Green' trails. Their lightest trails are Blues, and their rating system is a little on the low side. If you like to run low to mid Blacks normally, you will probably like being in the High Blue/Low Black group. I stayed in the All Blue group for both days and still managed to have a blast doing it all. Even tried a few Blacks just doing their Low Black portion and finding the bypass out once it got to a point I wouldn't risk it.
I was unarmored in a XJ with D30/35 & 3.07's. She did fine there. The breakage happened on an old break on the stock axle lca mount. Didn't know it was cracked there previously.
Take a trusted spotter and you can do a lot there. Just have to remember the skinny pedal is not always your friend.
We took a Stock '08 Rubicon JK 4dr (with one payment made) through Trails 1 & 3 there and it did just fine.
So who is in? Who wants a Body by Crozet sticker like I got.
Nearest Hotels are about 15-20 miles away, there is camping allowed. The only utility though is a port-a-john. My hotel cost me $60/night for a Queen bed, same price for 2 Full Beds.
