Hey there. Looks like I now have orders to report to Fort Lewis. I think I am going to be in 4-6 CAV but have not contacted anyone there yet.

So what are the trails like there? I am constantly working on my jeep and looking for guys with similar interests and can show me some trails there. I am coming from Fort Carson Colorado and love it here. Hoping I can bring my jeep and not sell it here. If I do sell will deffinately be picking up another one there and building it to my liking.

Cant wait to meet some of you guys in person.

In the fall/winter/spring trails are VERY wet and slippery. Not too many places NEED bigger than 33s. In the summer, very beautiful. Several mountain ranges to wheel in. Snow runs are rediculously fun, and deep. If you have any questions, feel free to post them up.

And 4/6 Cav is right next door to my work.

Washington wheeling is a lot differant than Colorado, but the Jeepers are the same, great folks :) My only regret was not having a plan to bring my M/T tires with me. I agree that 33's will get most any where I have been and I run 35's. Because of the snow and mud lockers are an advantage, but if you are with folks that have them you can do okay with an occasion pull of the winch cable or tow strap. My overhead rack was another issue, I hardly ever hit tree branches with it in Colorado and here the trails are tighter and lot of low hanging branches. This past weekend was the first time I wheeled in sunshine since being here and only the second day I had the top off, they keep saying I will love it this summer, we sahll see :)

I am in 4-6 CAV, and it would be nice to have a fellow jeep owner that actually wheels theirs in the squadron.

Cool we have 5 of us in 1-6 that take ours wheeling. So yes I agree It will be nice to have someone to talk to at work about wheeling. What do you do in 4-6? How is the unit?
Other than tons of rain how is it there for the avid outdoorsman? I own my own boat love to fish and hunt every chance I get. All my activites are geared around being in the outdoors Jeep, Boat, Camping, Hunting. Sure am going to miss Colorado but looking forward to something new in the North West.

I like it, I think I like Fort Carson better and I like the wheeling and weather in Colorado better than then here, but it is a good post. It has been years since I was at Fort Leonard Wood, but I have a buddy there now and most anywhere from there is an improvement in my opinion. One thing Lewis does offer is the mountains and the ocean are both right here and the summers are great, but the winters are wet and dreary, but not real cold. Boating, skiing, hunting, fishing, camping, etc, it is all here.
