Purple

Edit: Be careful how you wire it however. Are you wiring anything but the reverse lamps?

no, just trying to get the beast street legal, so just throwin on a light. when you say purple, do you mean black and purple? What cautions am i taking?

Black and purple it is. I was telling you to be cautious, cause I wired my extra white lights on my bumper into that light and double fed the wire I guess. Now it won't come on when I go into reverse. Not that big of a deal as I have a switch, but just a fair warning.

get a repair manual and if you have one look in the back at the wiring diagram it's going to look greek to you at first if you've never seen one before but they are easy to figure out you can follow any wire in your jeep and know what is does

The Haynes manual is normally the first thing i buy for my new vehicles, but none of the part stores i've been to today have one for wranglers.

The one for Wranglers has a YJ on the cover anyway. Where do you live at?

I have to work on coastiejeeper's jeep at 8am tomorrow. If you want, I can come over at 7 with my resources and we can figure it out. That gives us about 45 minutes to work on the sucker. Shouldn't take that long to run the problem out.

Just a quick thought on what may be, have you checked the reverse light switch? If it isn't working, then the wire's won't have power either.

a lot of the manuals are available online you just have to check around. By online I mean free in a PDF format.

I have the tech manual, and we tried working it out over the phone but you know how that goes.

x2 on checkin the switch. That was on the diagram, but I didn't think to tell you.

I believe the wires are on the upper pass side of the tranny (ax-15). Sorry I cannot check, but I shipped my jeep stateside last week.

So, I replaced the switch. Now while i'm in 1st through 4th the light is on, but during 5th and reverse the light is off. I'm lost in the sauce.

Is there anyway to adjust the switch? Maybe it is wired wrong.

i think i got it, just switched the reverse light switch to the other side. I also shorted a wire in the process (long story short is that i did a dumb move), so I got pissed and haven't tried dealing with it in a few days.
