View Full Version : 2" bl
Alright guys im PCSing to germany in september. and before getting my orders i had been playing with the idea of a body lift. right now i have a 2.5" lift and i want to add a 2" BL for some extra lift until i can aford the 1500 to do the full suspension set up.My question is will i pass German inspection?
Don't know about inspection but anything over 1.25" That the JKS BL gives is really too much because of undue stress that is put on the body bolts

Just put it on after your inspection. I will find out for sure but it should be ok.
Let me know where you are going, when you will be here, etc.
I work at the airport you will fly into in Frankfurt, I can come meet you the second you get off the plane.

By the way, what is your MOS and rank? I will be leaving shortly after that, I have a very "different" kind of job, maybe you can take my place. PM me if interested.
Hey guys thanks for the replies. i gotta tell ya im super impressed with this site. i mean immiediatly you guys have been giving me tips hand over fist thanks so much. Ill be there on the 9th of sept. Im an E-5 medic and trust me if im not sleeping, complaining about my job, or drinking im definatley JEEPIN!
You will pass with thte body lift. Not recommended but it will pass. There is a 03 wrangler here in K-town with a 3" BL no problems passing. I would just wait till you got the cash to do it right the first time.

i have a 3in BL and there was no questions about it when i did my inspection so there wil be no problem in it as long as the tread of your tires are covered for the inspection you will be fine.

also it does not do undue stress to body bolts cause it comes with new ones. i have a had my BL lift on for 4 years now and not any kind of problems and i rock crawl and mud and have been through just about anything and never had a single problem.

I was about to say what bubba just said you'll be good just make sure you have fender flares that cover your tires before you get here.
You have been lucky. With anything over 1.25" BL stess is created and the bolts that come with the lift are grade 5. You should at least upgrade to grade 8. But I have seen body bolts snap both on the trail and during the install. I personally had a rear corner body bolt snap and had to drill it all the way out to be able to put a nut behind it.
At any rate whatever you decide best of luck with it and enjoy

I dont know what all you are doing to snap bolts on an install but you did something wrong. I bet the body bolts you had snap on the trail is because the body mount hit a rock that is the only way that could happen.
