from Bruce in Lebanon
Ok just got talking to my one of my many bosses .an I got the gate pass I should have it when I come to work Wednesday.i will put some kind of tag on them so nobody walk off with them .I will let you know for sure Thursday if the platform are still there.
Just got done talking to one of the bosses at work about some old metal platform they are getting ready to junk .He said that I can have them just got to go though one other boss .there enough metal to get a good start on a ramp. The only thing is I don’t have a trailer .If you or fred could come up to Copeland with the trailer an get the metal .Let me know so I can get all the things squared away here .
looks likwe can get a plan started, I'll pick the stuff up after an appointment Friday. So Gwntle man start your welders!!!!!

When go to build it best to go with either a 30* or 40* incline, simply because of the newer suspensions.
20* I think. at 30* we weren't NEAR the top of the ramp. and our high score was about a 800
I was thinking about a 25 degree design, but a 45 degree would create more entertainment with roll overs.

At 20* we have had a few rigs max out on our Club ramp. Down side is we don't have the blue prints. We also installed on axle and a hitch to transport, If you want I can try to get pics this weekend.

60* HA!
why lower the ramp to meet stock rigs, you score lower because the Jeep is'nt built up as much as we progress into the sport things flex better lol.
My vote is 35-45 degrees. Like Larry says "why lower the ramp to meet stock rigs"? Make us all go bigger lifts. Another reason to get bigger.

i might be able to get up 3 inches on a ramp that size lol
We have to remember the purposes of this ramp and keep the entire member pool in mind. Not everyone has or wants an extreme rig. We have to keep the ramp functional for public events too.
My vote would be for no more than 30 degrees. One of the most extreme Jeeps I have ever seen in my life (4WS JK on 42s) could not top out the 30 degree ramp. Our highest scorer was a decent distance from topping it out as well.
I don't see a ramp as a competition item, I see it as a learning tool. I learned two things from the ramp at the SnS. I need longer shocks and proper bump stopage in the front.

exactlt, that was a 30* and I opt we keep that angle. Like Jacob says it for showing people what thier rig will do and how it feels at the apex of its ability.
The Formula for figureing RTI Scores was made for a 20* Ramp. a score of 1000 is "perfect" You shoot to be able to travle the distance of your wheel base up a 20* ramp. so if you make the ramp 130" to the top only a few would top it.
But at any rate whatever is built is better than what we have now

Lets do the correct thing,
What is the right ramp to have? research answers not memory
Will that fit what we need?
Do most of us agree?

The right one would be the one that fits our need.
The 30 will fit the need.
Agree with 30 degrees.
Jacob is right about showing what we can do. And I remember how to do the calculations for the one we had.
The formula never changes you scores do. Higher scores on lower ramps. Our highest score on the 30* was in the 800's it would have been likely near 1000+ on a 20*. Like I said already 20, 30, 50, 15, I don't care becasue anything is better than nothing and we won't have to borrow one
Why don't we make a design that is adjustable. We might actually be a first and might sell a few :D. We could probably hit a range of 20 to maybe 40 degrees. I am sure we could make one that will do 20, 25, and 30 with not too many problems. Let me wrap my head around it and see what I can come up with.
I know little about how to build one of these things but here are some articles I found on the web that may help with the design:

Thats funny, I was thinking of one that could adjust to a range of angles but wasnt sure how to make it a strong enough.
Bruce and I picked up some steel from Copeland in Lebqanon today, it is light but should be good for braces or the ramp treadware surface.
We just need the long pieces now I think, the ones we got are about 3.5 ft square. Good eye Bruce!

Ok here is enough to fininsh I bet
Screw an RTI ramp, lets build a damn trailer. We may need a set of torches for all that steel. Looks good, I need the hookup on where all of this free steel is coming from.

they usually have a raffle all day long with DVD's, grunt calls, rattle bags, liquid dirt, different scent attractants. Archery contest is free. Skeet Contest costs like $5 a round of 20 skeet and they supply guns and ammo all you do is supplyy $ and a shooter. And last year food and drinks were free. Its actually a pretty big event

i highly recommend putting springs on it if you want to trailer it. ever pulled anything with out a suspension on it.
I actually pulled an RTI ramp with no suspension over 100 miles each way and it wasn't horrible
