Hey all. My name is Norm and I love to wheel. I'm hoping that this site is more military than jeep specific because this is the first I've heard of a military specific wheeling site. I was active duty Airborne infantry from 92-26 with the 1/509 Airborne infantry out of Little Rock AFB and then Ft. Polk Louisianna where I pretty much was full time Opfor for the totality of my enlistment. When I got out of active duty in 96 I soon grew bored with civy life and re upped in the Nevada National Guard as a Mortarman. I was excited to see what a real TO&E unit did only to learn that the 1/221 was attached to the 11th ACR in Ft. Irwin Ca. You got it! NTC! I was playing lazer tag again, only this time in the desert. I finished my 8 in 2000 and often regret leaving the military since.

My rig started as an 86 Bronco. I built it up on one ton axles and soon tired of the big lumbering beast in the harder terain I wished to wheel in. I tore down the entire truck and transfered my one ton components onto an 82 Toyota chasis. It currently runs a 351w/C6/NP203 205 doubler/ 88Ford HP D60 front welded, 14 bolt rear with detroit, 5.13s running on 40" TSLs.

Here is a current pic of my rig which is still being built:

As you can see there really isn't a whole lot of Toyota left to it.

I'm hoping this is a place that I can swap war stories and wheeling tips with fellow Military personell. I won't even hold it against you if you are/were an officer. :D Take Care all and I hope to get to know you guys.

Oh and korisu56? I'm sorry for giving you shit on the Reno4x4 site. I just hate spammers. Take Care. NORM

Welcome. Your rigs look pretty sweet.

Chris is a good guy. I saw some links in the traffic stats coming to Military Jeepers from the Reno site and I was going ask them myself to help try to spread the word. Chris just beat me to it.

Welcome Norm. We can probably forgive you for not owning a jeep although with your rig the way it is I'm sure you can get a jeep part on there somehow....

Welcome to the board. I'm glad to see I won't have to represent the Silver State all by my lonesome.

The tubework is past my skill set too. I've been paying to have alot done but I got the axles, drivetrain, gastank, and misc other little things before handing it over to my fabricator friend. I just learned I bumped my tab up another grand more than I thought it was. Now I have to figure out how to tell my wife.
