Had him turn the key and the starter went PING click click-not good.
We got the starter off by grinding down an old socket and loosen the drive sahft to give us the room we needed. Went to AZ and it tested GOOD!!!4 times. Put it back in cleaned up connections and PING click again????
I thought maybe the flywheel had a bad spot and tried to turn the engine over with a breaker bar on the crank, I couldnt budge the thing little 3.7l I should be able to do that with 1 hand.
I said hey come check your oil for me.......bunch of water in it so we drained about 4 gallons of antifreeze and oil out of that thing.
Hate to say it but he most likely has a cracked head or block. May have him try and crank it in the morning maybe since all that is out of his cranck case it'll spin now?

I had a Chevy S10 try to follow me thru a hole at the Paragon in PA and a similar incident occured. a $300.00 dollar tow fee and week at the dealer repaired the truck. I believe they drained all fluids, replacet the head gasket, cleanet the carb, and it did run again. The guy went and bought a Rubi the day it got out of the shop, and talked his wife into a grand cherokee the same week. True story! Brown you need a TJ if your liberty is dead for good:confused:

I hope he gets off that easy.
Kieth since we drained the pan it may actually be able to turn over, just remember there is NO OIL in it right now.
 I am curious to see if you get more radiator fluid in the oil pan or if soemhow you did get a bunch of water up in there...You said nothing was deeper than the tires right?
maybe if it had water on top of the pistons it can drain down now without the 4 galons in the oil pan?
Are you sure it was anti freeze and not just plain water?
Is the coolant level low in the radiator?
Did it start smoking before it quit running?
What exactly was the cause of it to quit running, was it redlined for a while, or was it a sudden stop?
Put some oil back in it, pull the plugs out and turn it over with the starter and all the water will shoot off the top of the pistons. Definately not good that it has been sitting in there for a few days.
Thats pretty much what I said Jacob. He said when he hit the hole water came up over the hood and it stalled. He also stated he had to put coolant in it afew days ago.

Sounds like this could have been the grand finale if it was already using coolant. Once that starts your on borrowed time anyway. I have seen vehicles run after being submarined like that but usually they don't run very good or for very long. Once the water washes out the cam bearings and crank bearings you get the lower end rattle. The bearings being shot causes more friction so the vehicle will usually overheat very easily too.

here Brown for your NO SPARK PLUG engine, here is a video of how to change the spark plugs on a 2002-2007 Liberty. The guy trys to be funny but the result is he shows you how to do it, if there were sparks plugs that is and he pulls out spark plugs so I suspect they are actually there LOL.

if it were mine i would pull the air intake and look at the filter to see if it is wet. if it is thats a good sign that he just sucked water in through the intake and not a blown head gasket (witch is more common than a cracked head) it will still run on a blown head gasket just not very good. if you fill the cylinders full of water it will do 2 things 1 it wont run and 2 it will "wash the rings"(the compression of cranking will force the water down through the rings washing the oil out of the rings into the oil pan causing little to no compression and it wont run) then ad you fill the oil pan with water/oil it will cause the motor to lock up because you cant compress the water as much as air so it wont turn.
so step 1 check air filter if its wet pull spark plugs if there's water residue (rust) in the cylinder's let me know and i will tell you what you can do next to get it running again.
if its a blown head gasket.... good luck there not too hard to do but it will cost you out the A$$ to take it to a shop

get a shop vac(the one that can handle water) and rig a hose on the end to fit inside the spark plug hole and get the water out that way and then do what i said with the tranny fluid.

need to do this asap because the longer water sits in the cylinders (rusting the chit outa everything) the greater the chances of junking your engine...
also when you said nothing happened when you tried to turn it over to get the water out did you mean that no water came out or it wouldn't turn over?

paul came over and we the shot vac and got the water out.
and when i said nothing happened i i mean nothing turned over the only thing that happened was the starter was making that damn noise again.
we tried to turn it by hand again but it wont move lol

put tranny fluid in the cylinders and let it sit for a few days (if this dose not free it up then you junked your engine)
i got an appt to take it to the dealer ship on the 6th
about how much fluid should i put in the cylinders?

If you take it to the dealership you know there going to tell you its DONE. Your going to pay a crazy price to put a new engine in it. Proably 3-5 grand if i had to guess. If you go that route i would suggest doing it yourself and saving a little bit of coin, Im sure we all could help.

like I said, .... interesting. more by the minute :D
the only shop vac i have runs off power from the jeep
and yes jacob i went to spend some alone time with my dead jeep and i want romantic music in the back ground lol
I used to have a small charger, but the last time I loaned it out it PCSed with the person I loaned it to. The only one I have now is mounted in my boat. If some one doesn't have one for you to use, you can buy the manual ones for $20-$25 these days.

I got one from walmart its not a fancy one but it works if you need...
yea if u can drop it by i live at 301 indiana ave
alright so i have everything setup or thursday to take it to the dealer just got to time out of my day to clean it up lol
how are you getting it to the dealer? and what dealer are you taking it too?
I have a cgarger as well as a shop vac that plugs in to a wall plug
there is supposed to be a tow truck got to call and double check
and its going to linsday right out the main gate
So my jeep is in da shop and they told me the warranty wont cover it but they havent even opened the engine yet???? WTF???????
and also they wont rebuild they will only put a new one in it??????? so what should i do???????????????
are they chargeing you to open it up and figure whats wrong? Figure out whats wrong and get a new motor and swap it yourself. You can do it in the Craft Shop in a few days.
If the motor is rebuildable have it rebuilt
they havent opened it up at all
where can i get a motor????
Craigs list, ebay, junk yards, or last resort an auto store. When they open it and determine the problem it may be rebuildable or maybe not.
I would research doing either the CRD or a 4.0L

get on the net and start looking, youre situation you have no real choice but to leave it rot or replace it.
Action Automotive is where Andrea took her stuff before, they were very fair to her.
I gave some small advice. Lindsay doesn't even want to open it to determine whats wrong, yet they already said warrenty will not cover it. Keith called the warrenty company and the Dealer didn't even call them to tell them the situation, I told him call the Warrenty company and ask them his options.
how big of motor do u think we could fit if i am gonna buy a new or used one might as well upgrade it lol
I don't know but research on Lost KJ and KJ owners forum.
I think the best bet would be the CRD, costly (more so than the 3.7) but a better motor
i tried to crete a lost kj account but it dont work anymore idk???? i will ask willy maybe he might know

Sorry about not getting the battrie charger to you. I got put on 48 hr quators for pink eye. So they said no driving.
Well, you have to think about the electronics that come along with a different motor which will add considerably to the cost and complexity of a swap. Pressure the warranty company to repair the one in it or provide you with a replacement. After that search junk yards online. Most junk yards are in a nationwide network and can help you hunt down stuff you are looking for. After that, contact this guy.

He will pick your Jeep up and rebuild the motor for a fair price. Comes with a 100k mile warranty. This is the route I was going to go with my old 4Runner when I popped the motor in it before I decided to sell it.
i am puttin the pressure on lol i am tryin to get my NCO to come out with me tomorrow to meet the inspector

Hey brown90, I just did a quick ebay search and found numerous used liberty engines on ebay for 1300 to 1700 bucks. Also, I have only been to this salvage yard once but I was very impressed. They had a LOT of late model stuff and they knew their stuff.
