1000-Link up at Sheetz at the following location for those who are coming out Sunday:
Sheetz Gas Station 798 E Market St Harrisonburg, VA 22801 (540) 433-6200. (Vic Geo: N38 Deg 26' 46.98" W078 Deg 51' 11.75") [Google map (http://maps.google.com/maps?q=798+E+Market+St,+Harrisonburg,+VA+22801,+USA&ie=UTF8&ll=38.447556,-78.853512&spn=0.007865,0.020084&z=16&iwloc=addr&om=0)]
NLT 1045 -Allow time for last fill-ups, food purchases, last checks, stragglers.

Where we’ll be staying:
Original camp ground isn't open until mid may. There are some options that are farther away that will be evaluated, but there's primitive camping anywhere we want, provided we are 150 ft away from all trails and roads.

THIS IS WHAT YOU WILL NEED TO BRING
The following is the minimum equipment you must have present on/in your vehicle to participate on the trailrides:

1. Full Size Spare Tire (each veh)
2. A jack capable of lifting a wheel off the ground (each Veh) (HiLift group)
3. A tow strap (group)
4. Tow Hooks Front and Rear (each veh)
5. A 4WD vehicle in good working order (each Veh)
6. First Aid Kit (basic - each veh, bigger - group if EMT)
7. Fire Extinguisher (each veh)
8. CB (recommended each veh) FRS/GMRS (recommended - talk around)
9. Tools and fluids (each veh)
10! If you are staying Sat. night, bring 3-5 logs for fire.

And for the most important of all,
10. Common Sense - Know your skill level and the capabilities of your Jeep. Think before you do something or the results could be very, very bad.

Disclaimer : This ride is not sponsored by Military Jeepers, myself or anyone else on this board or attending of taking any part in the planning of this trail ride. You are joining other Jeepers on this ride for fun. You ride at your own risk. If you break something, YOU broke it. We will do the usual safety briefing before we roll out from any point, but remember that if at any point you don't feel comfortable navigating any part of the trail, tell someone and we will point the way to an alternative route. Everyone will tread lightly and be grown-ups.If at any point you do not wheel responsibly or knowingly pose a safety risk to anyone in the group, you will be asked to leave.

Bump for time change...

Ryan and I talked about the times, and most people from up here would have to be up y 5 am on Saturday to make the hard times at the rest area. The ride isn't that long, and there's no need to wake up ass crack of dawn on Saturday for no reason.

Sounds like fun, I probably won't know for sure what I'm available for until around the 23rd. My Jeep is still hurt and will be looked at by a Pro on Friday for an estimate on its issue.

Currently it's decided it's speed limit is about 35-40mph.
Think I lost the 3rd Gear & Overdrive in the Transmission. And it's an Automatic.

So not quite sure whats going on with it. I have a friend that will look at it and give me a price.

MilJeep,
You can barrow my grill grate or go to the Home & Garden on post and grab one. I would steer you away from the ones they sale at REI that are to cheap to last long.
The one I speak of has folding legs and it folds down pretty flat and made of high quality materials (well, it is a darn grill grate). We have cooked on one a hundred times and it is still structural sound is my point....

Who is going is listed on the first post. We have a lot of people listed as a "maybe", so hopefully they will know for sure soon if they will be going or not.

I know we are camping in the woodline, but maybe we can camp at the same location that fifthpro camped at last time they were there. It was a huge open field.

just to let ya know. The wind this time of the year (depending on where you camp) is crazy. I would bring some rope and extra stakes to stabilize your tent. If you sleeping in a tent. I may sleep in my summer bag and biviy by my jeep.

Ric,
Following that line of thought....the high winds bring big black clouds and it is the "Spring Showers" time of the year. Bring a tent and enjoy the good night's sleep.
Now I do not say that because I have gotten soft at 40 or have I lost my Infantry roots but I have to admit that every time I see a big thunderstorm I stop and think to myself, "boy, I am glad I am not sleeping in a patrol base tonight!"
Just a thought..

Cheers!

Hello everyone. I am new to the military jeepers, but have been on the other sites.

A couple of questions:
- Am I too late for final manifest or can I still put my name in?
- My jeep is a little "old" and not modified at this time- 1951 M38 with baby swampers and flathead 4 to power through the gravel. Am I good with this? It will go more places than most think- If it cant get over something I believe we could lift it up and over the obstacle... besides mine has been to Korea and back!!
- Will you drive at the speed of my M38, I have had the thing up to 55mph... kidding I will trailer it otherwise I will have to leave tonight.
- What is needed from me?
Thanks all,

Welcome. Yes, you can do the ride. The trail is not too bad, but does involve at least two water crossings. Depending on the water levels, they are not too bad.

Because it is supposed to rain fri, sat and sun, we decided to stay in a hotel, but some like Rick mentioned that they would be camping still. The hotel information is in this thread (http://www.militaryjeepers.com/community/showthread.php?t=1106) if you want to get a room. Tell them you have AAA and the room goes from 65 to 58 for the night.
