    Default Ah gad!! My brakes!!

Today I was leaving my house after lunch when a migrant worker on a lawn-mower decided it would be a swell idea to drive right into the street. I locked up my brakes and narrowly avoided introducing him to my new stinger.

I drove up to the stop sign at the end of the street and hit the brakes...

and kept right on going. So I have no brakes now. No leaks anywhere, but the pedal is completely soft. I have manual brakes, drums in the rear, disc up front.

Take a look at your rear wheel cylinders. You may have blown one out and the leak may not be easily seen without removing the rear tires. If those are ok I am leaning toward the master. I had a similar situation and the same problem and ended up replacing my master.

if there is no leak anywhere, you are looking at master / booster issue.

or maybe somehow broke the rod, but that is kind of unlikely.

push your brake and see how it feels with jeep of. then try to pump the brake and see if it get better. hold the brake down and see if the peddle starts losing pressure. A bad master cylinder will cause the peddle to lose pressure while holding. it will also have no pressure until you pump it alit and then next time there won't be any pressure

There is no pressure on the pedal until I pump it up. It will still have pressure after I release and press it again. I can't feel it losing pressure while I'm holding it.

Found the problem, it was a bad wheel cylinder. It just took awhile for the leak to rear it's ugly head.
