Instead of just a new blower motor, I would do the Blazer motor upgrade.
I was wondering what mods to do. Truck and HillBille both suggested a new blower motor, so that'll most likely get done. Anything else while I'm back there? Once that dash is redone, I'm putting my cage back in for the final time. I should put a radio in there.....Here's a list of what I already know I need to do
-Speedo
-New knobs
-New control rods
-Rebuild ductwork for defroster
-New cowl seal

yeah, that's what I meant. My bad![]()
DO either a marine radio or wat me and my dad did when we did his cj a while ago cause marine radios were expensive we went to a marina and they sell plastic housings to put radio in with a flip cover for face plate we installed that so that the radio would be waterproof

Good advice! If you plan on using speakers in the dash, get a pair of good marine 5 1/4" ones. They will survive being wet, and once the cage is in, they are a pain to replace! (so get really good ones)
I put my radio in a locking center console, no water, no thefts!
Chris, I also found out something new about CJ's leaking around the window!
It's not just the cowl seal that will have water running down/into/around/out of the dash, but also the seal at the top of the windshield.
With the hardtop on, my CJ leaks like a sieve driving in the rain, with the soft top, it wasn't so bad.
So I sealed the strip that holds the soft top/bikini top to the windshield frame, and it stopped most of the water flow during rainy driving!
If you're keeping the hardtop, invest in a new seal kit for it! You'll be a lot drier!

Pretty much any plastic cone speakers will hold up now a day.

You should also do the heater core.
reviving. Jeep's coming home soon from MVC and this is my winter project. So far I'm looking to buy:
-Blazer blower motor
-tach
-hand throttle
-switch wiring and configuation
-cb radio wiring and ant business
I don't think I'm going to put the radio in the dash. I may try and figure out a creative way to do it with the bench seat so that the radio is water tight and wired to speakers. I will put speakers behind the dash, but they will be wired up and have the ends tied off behind the dash with the switch business (ready to go, but not in use). Once that aftermarket cage goes back in, its there forever (or until next major rebuild). I need to draw out my dash so I know finished product.
I wouldn't put another radio into a CJ dash. I ruined 4 CD players so far. Get a tuffy over head or center console for the radio and you won't have to worry about it again.
As for the dash replace every bulb in the dash lights. Go over all the dash wiring and tuck and attach everything nice and neat. Most old cj's look like a rats nest.
