The KJ is an IFS, and it was in production about 5 years prior to the JK. The JK has a solid front axle, four link with a panhard bar suspension.
Does anyone happen to know what suspension the KJ is modeled after. I am wanting to say its the JK. But am not sure.

91 XJ, 4.5" RC Long Arm Suspension, 35" BFG KM's on black steelies, Ford 8.8 rear, D30 w/Aussie, AA SYE, Custom bumpers, JCR Rock Sliders, Rusty's gas tank skid
i knew that the kj is an ifs and the jk is a solid axle, what i am wondering is if the kj is similar to any other jeep. is the kj modeled after the tj, yj, etc. or is it similar to xj. i am having a hard time finding a lift kit that will give me more than 2-3 inch of lift, other than custom fab work. the biggest piece i am in search of is a diff drop. i have seen a 7 inch lift in four wheeler but cant track down where it was made at.
As far as I am aware the KJ is a one of a kind for suspension, even the KK is different.
The 7in lift was from Rockcrawler http://www.rockkrawler.com/?r_intro=1 and they stopped making it due to it being a piece of $#!t.
Try http://jeepinbyal.com/cat-Lift_Kits-4.aspx for some higher then 2-3 inches. The majority of people going higher then 2-3 in are going SFA due to the front D30A.
Remember you get what you pay for.
With my lift the Frankenlift II Premium have netted 3.5in of lift, from here: http://www.boulderbars.com/kjproducts.htm
Hope this helps some.

Do a solid front axle conversion and lift it as high as you want.

The KJ Liberty and the WK Grand Cherokee are the closest to being the same, but the Liberty (Cherokee outside the US) came out in 2002 and was the first IFS Jeep and shares components with the Dodge Nitro.
There is a site called www.lostkj.com that should give you more info on what is available for your Liberty.

I appriciate all the info, i was unaware that that kit was junk. I can tell you that i have the rustys 2.5 kit and am starting to think that it is junk as well. the front end is noisy and seems really tight.
The Rusty's coil kit is not bad for the money, I used it for 2 years before it started sagging to much, and I switch.
LOST is a great site and where I get most of my info for my KJ. It is down right now but should be up in a couple of days???????????????
There is also jeepkj.com that has good info and How to on the site.

Normally I'd point you over to LOSTKJs website, but it seems to be down.
According to http://www.allpar.com/model/jeep/liberty.html there were a lot of goings on in building the Libby, and one commenter that worked on the original design team claims the IFS was originally based on an old Jeep Wagoneer IFS design from the 60s (which I gathered was very heavy duty and would have performed well) but was then lightened to reduce weight, resulting in a so-so performance item.
You can lift with a Frankenlift mix of Rancho and OME parts, or go with a solid front axle swap if you need to go higher.
