    Default wiring an elctric fan

    OK i just got a yj last night it has an electric fan but its wired strait to the fuse box into the cruise slot, it is melting the in-line fuse what do i need to wire it correctly

    I wired the fan in my CJ using a relay. The relay is wired into an ignition hot circuit so that they don't run with the ignition off. I'll see if I can find the diagram I used and post it up.

    if it is just wired to run when the vehicle is on, you should consider a setup like this

    if you spend a few more bucks, you get a variable temperature setting knob and a manual over-ride switch so you could shut it off for crap like fording. depends on how much you want to do

    When I put fans on my CJ I used a thermostat housing from a 4.0 (TJ model) and installed the fan switch (from Painless) into it. It's a direct bolt on and works great!
