    Default Engine/Power upgrades

I have checked through the threads on here and see that pretty much everyone says forget it about cold air intakes, throttle body spacers and chips/modules. I have already geared as much as the axles can handle and I am still looking for more power. I am running the 2.5 which I know is a dog and 4.88's with 33's (for now). Short of an engine swap or supercharger is there any reasonable performance upgrade(s) that can be done?
A simple misunderstanding gets a lot less simple when you add choppers and a SWAT team.

nope, you said it all. gearing is first, then supercharging or upgrading your engine is next. aside from that, you could reflash your ecm or get an intake, but i don't think the WHP and torque increase is worth the money. of course this is my opinion, and i didn't go to college or anything.

Are you running the 4.0 or the 2.5l?

Edit: I need to learn to read.
Run a 4.0l throttle body, surprisingly it will actually help a bi.. at least with throttle response.
Other than that, start looking for a 4.0
You're wasting your money supercharging the 2.5l

headers/exhaust. I wouldn't put much into as of now other than engine swap. getting a rebuilt engine comes pretty cheap and tranny's aren't too hard to come by if you know where to look. For the money of putting parts on the 2.5, you may be able to actually get a good running six cylinder and stick it in there, it's more work, but in the end you'd probably be happier and you can always get parts and build the crap out of them later. pushing 4.88's and 33's with a six banger, that little Jeep would be a beast!

X2.... Or sell the 2.5 and get you an I6 Wrangler, is cheaper and easyer than a swap (unless you find a dirt cheap I6 with tranny) Now if you want to swap engines for more power, go Big... Swaping is costly and very envolved project, dont drop a I6 if you ultimately want a V8. Also remember you gonna need a tranny if you have the AX5, she wont stand a chance against the I6 plus they have difrent bellhousing patterns... Save your money and do it right the first time, and dont throw money at the 2.5 is just a waste of money.....

Couple XJs for sale for anywhere from 400-900 on Virginia Krawlers. You could pull the drive train and swap into yours. As for the 4.0 with 4.88s I will tell you mine is a monster and that chick Cutter can vouch for it! lol

Thanks for all the input. I figured that the next step would be an engine swap but I wanted to know if I was missing something. It looks like I will stay underpowered for a while then swap up for a bigger engine.
