Default Lesson learned when a vehicle is stuck in the mud/water

Basically, jeeps are out wheeling, one, an XJ, gets stuck in the mud and water. They decide to keep the kids in the stuck jeep while they leave it running and work on getting it out. Carbon Monoxide fills the jeep and I am pretty sure later news reports state that one of the kids died.

Here is one of the news stories.

    update:
here is the text from another that says one of the kids died.

One of two boys who suffered carbon monoxide poisoning in the woods in Lunenburg has died.

The boys were four-wheeling Friday night with three adults when one of the vehicles got stuck. The boys stayed in the vehicle to keep warm and were later found unconscious by adults who were trying to free the jeep.

Damn shame about the kids. Probably happens more than we care to know about.

    Man that's terrible!

Something most of us probably don't give a second thought about while stuck in water/mud. A fun-filled day turned tragedy.. my thoughts and prayers go out to the families.

Saw that while working the pit during a mud run. Lady had an old CJ5, some rust through on the floor boards. She closed the windows up to kep the mud out (soft top/soft doors). She was only at the start line about 2 minutes, then hit the pit. Once in the mud, the exhuast had no where to go but up inside, and no wind could blow it away, becuase the mud and water were up to the rockers.

She went maybe 10 ft, realized something was wrong and pushed n the clutch, then she passed out, one foot hit the gas, the other slipped of the clutch. She was out cold. Two of us jumped in and got the Jeep stopped and her out.

Whole thing lasted less than 5 minutes! She was ok, but had one hell of a headache. Things happen quick, good stuff to remember.
