Default 99 Grand 4.0 VS 2000 cherokee sport

heres my dilemma, i purchased a 99 GC laredo 4x4 about a month and a half back, and living in south florida i need A/C....need it! conditions of the deal with the car dealer was the A/C needed to be working and stay working while i had the jeep...AND it broke, TWICE...apparently they have to rip my dash apart to fix it, and it's going to cost the dealer a ton of cash....

Now the salesman offered to hand back 100% of the money i put down, and all 3 payments i have made. they have a 2000 cherokee sport 4d, not sure on tranny, sitting in their other lot like 50 miles north that he is going to have in his hands tomorrow.

the 2000 has like 10k less miles, and its alot nicer then the grand, or so he says.

Just looking for some advice on what to do, either have the dealer fix my gc, ill have to pay a few hundred in, or take my down back as credit and jump into the cherokee.

If it would save me money, i'd switch. I have always liked the simpler vehilces myself. Grands have too much frill for me. Figure out what you want in the end, and go from there. I think a regular cherokee is a little bit easier to build than a grand.

yeah so i hear about the cherokees, its a bit easier to mod them then the gc's. and less crap to go wrong. and i dont feel i fully trust the GC that i have now, seems to have a TON of hidden rust if you know what i mean....seat brackets, floors, etc.

so hopefully tomorrow ill be rid of the grand.

xj's are easier and cheaper to mod. zj's wj's and wk's are just now starting to become popular with wheeling and finding aftermarket parts but there are a ton for xj's. dont know about the a/c i heard some bad things about it but i have never owned a xj to know. good luck with everything

FWIW, when I had my tranny fixed the shop gave me an XJ as a loaner. The A/C worked great.

Interesting all the added rust you have discovered... any chance this is a "Katrina car?" I would at least look over the Cherokee being offered... CarFax? Something doesn't seem right to me - spider sense kicking in?
I once purchased a car that was a flood survivor (knowingly), that I got a great deal on... although mine hadn't gone in above the axles. Over time, it developed a lot of strange problems, including things just breaking off, including a large part of the steering column. And rust in the darnedest places.
