I have heard of something similar before...the ding happened to pop a tack weld on the inside and voila` insta-rattle.
Anyone run into this before? I think something broke loose in the Cat (little dent on it) on the passenger side of the JK and this piece of whatever it is has traveled into the cross over pipe. I heard it mid week but it is really pronounced today. Looks like I am going to have to drop the exhaust to see if I can shake it out maybe.

First I've heard of it but confirmed it with my neighbor as he works as a mechanic full time. He said they get quite a few Cat rattles in the shop but mostly cars with no dings. Go figure..
When my cat clogged up, it rattled like hell. CAT rattling is a sign of a dead CAT, at least without external cause.
