Default Thinking of getting a WJ *HELP*

Can anyone give me some advice on a WJ???

I wanna run 285/75/16's and will need some sliders...

What do you recommend for a lift?

IF/WHEN I sell my TJ I wanna get a loan for the WJ and include the parts for the lift!!! That way I can still have a lifted/capable Jeep after I rid myself of the TJ!!!

    Go for broke...

Forget the WJ, go to American Expeditionary Vehicles and order a JK brand new with the 6.1 hemi, dana 60s, 6" lift, full skid-plates and 37"s

I love telling others what to do with their money!
'00 TJ 4.0, D44RR, Ford 9", ARB lockers, 4.88s, AEV Highline, 14" King coilovers, Gen Right Long arm, full exhaust w/ headers, SYE... and I haven't even seen it yet!

i was thinking about it last night there are tons of reputable people/places that you could look into for the info you seek. also while my mind is actually working this morning... to go that big on tires you are gonna have to think of other parts that dont immediately come to mind... you will want to consider beefing up your steering components to something stronger than stock but wont be that necessary, i know to fit 33's under zj's you need at least 4" of lift with the 3" i have 31 fit to go with 33 i need to do some trimming it will most likely be the same story with a wj. with that in mind you should also look into a sye for it. check out these other websites for info:

    hope that helps

you can run 285s on a 4in lift. you'll get more flex with the IRO 6.5in lift. Easy to install rides great.

Josh is the man when it comes to customer service. for sliders, I like the kevins LP-2s pricey but i think the best looking.

if you have questions about a WJ i think i am the only one running one here on the board. shoot me a PM and i can tell you all things to watch out for when getting one. bumpers and the like.

    edit: IRO= Iron Rock Offroad

IF it's just going to be a wheeling rig I'd go with a ZJ. Many more donor vehicles, bigger motor (up to a 5.9 if you can find one) ANd the after market is now catching up.

I run a RE 4.5 kit (up grading to the LA afet next summer) and can fit 33's with a little bit of trimming.
    Got Machete?

Josh's ZJ is pretty bamf, as is Jeb's WJ. Listen to them both as they both built and wheel the dogshit out of their junk. Although I DID beat Jeb's time up that little rocky draw.

If you want a station wagon wheeler, IMHO your better off with a XJ. The ZJ trans missions suck, the WJ transfer cases suck. If your after a WJ get the 4.7L it's got more balls than the 5.2L ZJ and get about 20 MPG on the highway. My friend just sold his WJ and it pulled good. I just retired my XJ for a ZJ. The trans is out at only 105k the XJ is still strong as ever with nearly 200k. The XJ is a way tougher machine. For all things grand cherokee check out mall crawlin':
