Not really. The Commander does offer a third row seat so it seats seven vs. five in the Grand Cherokee, but the way the back seat is configured the Grand Cherokee has a little more leg room. We have the '06 Commander with the 4.7L and it is a great vehicle, but the mileage is not what they advertise, we get about 14 mpg in town and 17 on the hwy. I know people with the Grand Cherokee and they are getting 16 in town and 19 on the hwy.
