    Default Frame Rail Damage?

I am going to look an 04 WJ today with 60k on it and they gave me the carfax and it says accident. So i asked the dealer he said
I looked at the carfax and all it says is accident reported in January 09, no specifics. When we bought it they announced frame rail damage
Should this be an automatic walkaway? What should I look for? any advice? Is this something that can be repaired and if it was repaired right?

It can be fixed, but I would just keep looking.

I walk away if is at an average price... A qualified shop can fix a frame and bring it back to specs... I take a close look to tire wear pattern, anything unusual could be indicator of a shady job on the frame...

Don't walk...RUN. Even if you get a good price it's not worth the trouble you might have in the future. And it will be that much harder for you to sell later. Plus it was in an accident in January now 11 Months later it's for sale. Has it been getting fixed for 11 months or did someone just trade in their headache?

    Don't walk.....RUN AWAY!!!

WJ's don't have frames! That means uni-body damage. Fixable, yes, but it will never be the same.

If it's going to be strictly a wheeler, and the price is right, fine.

But if you want to drive it on the road....keep looking.

Unibody damage is expensive to fix and difficult to do. Hell, even regular frame damage is expensive.... insurance totaled my last TJ because the front frame was bent and they didn't want to mess with it.
Now.... if it were going to be a trail only rig that you were building up, and the price was real cheap, then yeah, go for it. If it's a daily driver you could notice alignment issues, tire wear issues, wandering, etc. Not worth the hassle imho.

More and more thats happening. Last winter my dad hit black ice with his '07 Dodge Ram. The frame was bent slightly in the front, and they totaled it.

I wanted to buy it back, and use the 5.7 HEMI, tranny and Tcase in my CJ

But they wanted waayyyy to much for by-back

I didn't even get the chance... by the time I knew what was going on, it was gone already. I lost a new lift, tires, bumpers, armor, everything.
Wasn't happy with the insurance company.
