    Default 350 into 97 TJ

Well I came across a 70s GMC factory replacement Chevy 350 and 350 turbo trans which in those days were not called crate engines but by todays standards would be. Both the engine and trans have 25k on them and are in excellent shape. I have already found an NP231 and adapter plate for the trans since it was set up to a 2x4 van. What I need to find and would appreciate some help narrowing down to are...
    Instrument panel and gauges
electric fuel pump for fuel cell already installed
    motor mounts
fuel lines (do they need to be changed?
drive shafts do they need to be changed or just the joints?
    off road shifter?
and everything else that I'm sure I am missing and don't know about

    Any help would be outstanding!

Will a 231 be able to handle the output of the setup?

If the transmission/engine combo moves your tcase forward or back, you'll likely need new driveshafts. Was running into this problem when considering switching my E/T setup too.

Talk to Rob and Damien at MVC (vendor here) about the gauge setup they made for Rob's TJ. Awesome.

My NP231J handles the 350 torque fine.

I did not have to change my fuel lines (mine is carb).

For engine mounting, the mounts are sold alot of places. NOVAK sells alot of adapters for builds such as yours. Make sure your engine is mounted correct (3 degree slant and centered/level).

Drive shafts will be depending on your new tranny and transfer case length vs. your old measurements. I have a CV type on the front and rear of mine. Another website with lots of good info is here:

I re-used my old wiring harness (the wires I had to). I used the same dash, etc.

Good luck, It will be a blast with all that new power, just go easy with it or you will break stuff (time to upgrade anyhow).

Awesome. That would suck if he hooked it all up and blew up the tcase. I didn't know, just figured I'd ask.

yeah running 9''and 44 with 5:13s spool and warn hubs up front. Rob has a sweet dash but I'm not ready to go that crazy, I saw a site that sells just an instrument panel with 4 cut outs. I've been told the gauges need to be changed so I figured it might be easier to change the whole panel. I know I need to do a lot of digging through build threads so any help from experience will be a huge help.

The only guages on mine that had to be replaced were the oil pressure and tach. I have a small tach mounted on the steering column now, and my mechanical oil guage below the dash. My volt, gas, clock, speedo, and temp guages were all G2G (91 YJ).

I would get another SYE for that 231. I have one on mine. Another thing to consider is depending on your suspesion setup is axle wrap with the bigger engine. Depending on how you drive you may want to consider some type of torque bar setup (I am still spring under my leafs on mine).
