    USMC new jeep shopping

Since my wife and I just had our second kid, we're looking for a bigger vehicle. There is no way I'm getting rid of Big Willys, so our Grand Am has got to go.

My wife has had her eye on 2006-2008 Grand Cherokees. I need to know if it'll fit my 2 carseats, my wife and myself and still have any room in it.

If not, how do the 4 door JKs look? I'm open to any model, as long as it is a JEEP.

    You may commence firing.

I'd look into the V8 Commanders. Plenty of room if you fold down the 3rd row seating. The power's nice, all the fancy options with the limited models are pretty nice, and the price is halfway decent as well. It is a jeep though, so don't expect any great gas mileage... 15-18mpg or so.

02-04 Grand Cherokee. Easily available, can still be found with very low miles, inexpensive, solid front axle and can be had with either I6 or V8.

We're trading in our 2000 Grand Cherokee on a new or relatively new Commander in about 7 months. We want to stay American and have 3rd row seating (3 kids) and the Commander fits our bill.

Looks like the Commander was made to be a tank. A passenger tank.

The commanders are not really all that great. If you wanna swing by the house again, my wife and I have an 04 GC and it has had 2 carseats and my buddy the Yeti (not the same one from here) in it for a 6 hour trip...not UNcomfortable, but not the most cushy ride for him, but he is over 225, 6'3"...Slide by and check it out.

I had one (V8 of course) before the Tundra Tow-Pig.....

I called it my "Cherokee on Steroids"....

Roomy, but not too big to drive, in-town mpg wasn't best, but pulled Bessie with a UHAUL car hauler w/no probs...

You can easily fit two adults and two car seats and all your stuff in any year Grand Cherokee. The same is true of the Commander or the JK Wrangler Unlimited. The advantage with the Grand Cherokee is that you can get a great deal on a WJ (1999 - 2004) that has the same room, offers either the 4.0L straight six or the 4.7L V-8 and it will be cheaper to buy, insure, maintain, mnodify and gets slightly better gas mileage. As for the 2005 and newer WK Grand Cherokee, it may just be me, but I think there is more room in the back seat than in my wife's Commander, but the Commander does offer a third row and seats seven. As for cargo room, they are about even, bring a tape measure, the Commander is taller, but so is the rear floor to accomodate the third seat. Both share the same engines, and other major components but the Grand Cherokee gets slightly better gas mileage as it is lighter and has a lower roof line. Other than the door being a little small, the four door Wrangler's back seat is as wide if not wider and there is an after market third rowseat available. http://www.littlepassengerseats.com/...p_wrangler.htm
