    Post Lifting my JK

Okay, I have a 2008 JK, as everyone knows. Right now, it's stock...bone stock. I've got 18" tires on it. I'm looking to lift it a couple of inches and put a little bigger tires on it. Problem is somewhat two-fold. First, I don't have much money and second, I don't want to void my warranty. Any suggestions, comments, or just plain snide remarks?

Jeep dealerships don't void waranty from mods. i see them servicing crazy jeeps all the time. the only thing that won't be covered it the part replaced... so if you do a suspention lift, the suspension coils and shocks and whatever part of the lift will be void. the engine, however, is A OK. If you have 18 inch wheels, finding a bigger tire to wrap around it will be harder than finding a set of 33's to fit a 16 or 17 in wheel. a budget boost is always good for the budget... it's a spacer over the coil, and you can install it in you're driveway.

What size tires are you planning to run, and how much money are you willing to spend?

A lot of people are running into particular dealerships not honoring warranty work due to lift, BUT unless the lift actually caused the damage, they cannot deny you on other parts ie. you lifted your jeep 4 inches and put 35's but your AC went out.. they have to prove that you lift caused that damage.

Theres actually a law regarding this.. Cant remember of the top of my head.

If you run a BB of 2.5 or so and some 33's youll be fine. No dealership is going to even question it due to most dealers mock up JKs from the showroom like this.. Some even(the dealer I bought mine from) sell with 35's

    Hope this helps

Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act is the anme of the law. Here is a link to the federal trade commission's web site explaning it.

Repost this over in the Springs forum and we'll get you hooked up locally. Crazy Ed is a vendor for MJ and gives great prices for military. Several of us locally have gone to him. Money is the biggest factor though with 18" wheels for going larger on tires. Might want to consider buying a set of used or take-off JK wheels in a smaller diameter to be able to buy tires cheaper. Small lifts for JKs are cheap and easy to install.

you can fit 33's with very little triming without lift and 35's with 2.5 lift and little triming or 2.5 and 33's no triming. what I would do if I wasn't about to sell my JK would get the Currie leveling and long travel kit with rancho shocks and run 34's with a little triming.
