    Default Parts Prices

    What are manufacturers/vendors thinking?

The economy goes to crap so they start charging more for parts. Example; Detroit lockers are $550.00 and above!! ARBs are higher!

How many units are they selling now versus a year or two ago?? Why do people pay that much as it drives the cost higher. If someone is willing to pay $800.00 then I can see the manufacturers raising the cost. If people say screw it, I'll pay $250 then the manufacturers will have to drop price or people will find an alternative- lincoln locker, aussie, lockrite, etc...

This is true for any part these days. Look at the gear reduction kits for transfer cases- outrageous!!!

I get the whole research and development cost and ensuring you make some money out of it, but if they charge so freakin much how many units are they going to sell versus charging a reasonable price and 4x as many units???

Whew, need to go have a beer now @7:45am

The big thing is fuel costs right now...it drives up both steel and transportation costs.

Price of steel has gone up greatly so the cost of parts goes up.
I'm Mike, make sure you spell it right, because I do not want to get the wrong A$$hole in trouble.

If you do not have time to do it right the first time, how do you have time do do it over?

i dont know where you have been but detroits 7 years ago were still $550-700 depending on axle, so with inflation i dont think thats too bad. ARB's have always been rediculous, but who actually knows the machining prices and parts add up.

You hit it on the head. My younger brother works at a steel mill and he said that the price of everything steel, including scrap, is going through the roof.

What if I told you servicemen and women are just regular people like you. Some are douchebags, some are really great people, some are idiots, some are really smart, and almost none of themselves think of themselves as hero's, except the douchebags.
