    Default Vanco

I'm looking to upgrade my brakes. Vanco seems to have the best product out there in the after market department. Their customer reviews are great, but they're not going to post anything negative on their website about their own product. Does anyone out there have experience, good or bad, with the Vanco big brake kit? Or, are there other (cheaper) options to drastically improving braking performance? Thanks.

your best bet is hydro assist, depending on what you already have done maybe a 1 ton mc and bigger calipers and rotors.

I've heard good things about VANCO on other forums. He even posts on some, and supposedly has great customer service.

There's only 2 negatives I've heard about Vanco.
The 1st... they won't work with the RCV alloy shafts if you're planning on going that route.
The 2nd... a long wait. He has custom machined knuckles. He doesn't make them himself, so he has to wait for enough orders to come in for his brake kit before he orders the machine shop to make a batch of the knuckles. So, if he just had a batch machined, you could wait months before your order is processed and ready to ship. I don't really consider this a bad thing since he outright states that there will be a wait time.

Thanks for the input guys. Still researching, but I'll probably go with the Vanco kit in a couple of months unless I learn of bolt on upgrade options from a junkyard donor.

for the front i think if you grom the outers of a 99 and later WJ they will bolt up to the dana 30 front and they are a dual piston caliper but you will have to run a 16" wheel

Hey Ken, there's a guy in my club that has the 15in vanco, he loves it. Straight forward install, cost around $800.00, his name is Jerry Bransford and you can contact him on the jeep forum site.

Awesome! Thanks Balvino. That's exactly what I was looking for. How's the long arm install coming along? I can lend a hand over the holiday break if you still have some work left on it.

All done! I'm looking into upgrading to a front arb and tera 4low! I was looking into an Atlas, but the cost of new D/S just was not worth it. Just spent alot on 5.13's on my sons rubicon. The vanco is on my list also but is going to be the last upgrade I do. With the vanco you won't need to upgrade your rear brakes. Email Jerry B that guy is full of knowledge on the TJ! My son James talks to him more than I do.

If you plan on upgrading your axles later on you may just want to go with an upgraded front cal/rotor and rear disc from a newer jeep costs about 450 the last time I checked before our country went to crap- prices may be worse now.

If your interested let me know and I can dig up my list of factory part # to do everything bolt on
