Is your pinion at least close to pointing to the out put of the transfer case?
I'm guessing no. W/O the sye and cv shaft, your pinion would have been parallel with your out put of the transfer case. These 2 things need to be pointing directly at each other. You could be quickly burning out a u joint, wearing out pinion seal, causing damage to your new sye. If you don't have the time to take care of the pinion angle now, pull the drive shaft out and keep driving in 4Hi until you can tackle it.
