    Question K & N High-Flow Air Filter

Does anyone know anything about these filters?

They say that they are supose to help give you more horsepower and better gas mileage.

I also like the idea of them being reusable and “rechargeable.”

Does anyone know if they really do work like new after a recharge?

    Default K&N

They are awesome. I use them in my RV and JK, Can beat the performance.
And if they get dirty just hose them off, sprinkle a little oil and keep on using them. Good investment. Plus the engine breath easy.

there's a big debate over this on JF...majority say paper filter is best for your jeep. I did invest in the K&N off ebay but went back to paper because I didn't notice any difference

The gains depends on the vehicle you put it on, on the 4.0 you will gain some HP on the 2.5 is just placebo... Now on passenger cars and some trucks the HP gains are dramatic.... If you plan to wheel in mud or do the slight water crossing, I dont really recommend it, the media is exposed and really easy to contaminate... just my experience in my two TJ's

I noticed a 1-2 mpg gain on my wife's KJ with a drop in K&N filter but no change on my JK.

I have the cold air system on my TJ, did notice an increase in power but not in mileage. Worth it to me for the power increase.

Yes, I have sold and used them for years and they work like advertised. We have a demonstration in my store that shows a dirty K&N flowing more air than a brand new paper filter.

JP did a study on a bunch of after market engine upgrades and posted the results in an issue a few months back. It included the manufacturers claimed gains vs actual gains seen in real testing by JP. The K&N cold air intake was one of the products tested. Here's a link to the review and a few other products they tested: http://www.jpmagazine.com/techarticl...ies/index.html
