    Default roll on rhino lining

so florida mud, water, sand is messy as hell. once you get it in your vehicle, i dont care what you own, your not getting it out.

I have this idea of ripping my XJ carpets out, and lining the "tub" with whatever brand of rhino liner, throwing in some rubber floor mats on top of it, and callin it a day. I'll be pulling out all the seats, carpets, platic mouldings etc and pretty much seeing what happens after that!

Any suggestions/ideas/comments/flames on my little brainstorm? ive only had my '00 XJ for a few months now, she is still stock due to my wedding in june. as of now, ive just been collecting recovery gear when i have the pennies to spare.

    DO IT!!!

I did that to my CJ, and love it!!

Best advice I can give, PREP, PREP, PREP!

Follow the directions (of whatever you choose) and it should be good.

I used Herc-U-Liner on my CJ, and the PO used Duplicolor on the rockers of my XJ.

Both are sprayable, and have held up great.

I used the spray on duplicolor on the exterior of my old XJ, worked great. I used the roll on herculiner on the tub of my TJ. I didn't follow the directions as well as I should have, and it didn't turn out the greatest I was limited on time as it was my DD and the weekend). It still works, but read the directions and follow them.

DEFINITELY FOLLOW DIRECTIONS, AND PREP ACCORDINGLY, I used the Hercu liner in one of my old pickups and it turned out to be a disaster, I thought how hard can this be, I don't need instructions, I was wrong, it was peeling off with in a couple of months. lesson learned! I've heard nothing but great things about Line-X, but it is kinda expensive, and I don't believe there is a DIY version.

Do it. Did the inside of my TJ and its awesome. Its all about PREP, PREP, PREP. Like the above posts have said. Great prep work and follow the instructions and it will turn out looking good. I used Durabak liner that I bought from 4wd hardware. Stuff is great. Sand the areas very well that you are going to paint and clean it well with acetone.

I was thinking about doing Rhino lining as well...but I didnt want to spend the $500 for them to do it. I was thinking about doing the Herc-U-Liner. Maybe once I get my Jeep lifted and everything put on it first.

    Cool! Tips:

    PREP! (you know that already!)

Wear old clothes you don't care about-they will get messy/ruined/turned into garage clothes.

Wear gloves-I wore nitrile gloves, worked great.

Cover the floor-if it's cement, or something you don't want ruined, cover it. I still have a blob od Herc-U-Liner on the shop floor, from 2 years ago!

That sh*t takes forever to get off of your hands. Tape areas off where you dont want it and take your time.

Wear a filtration device of some sort while doing it inside...some of those products will pass you out quickly and it's all downhill from there.

    Good luck though
