    Default Transmission Q's

    Anybody know if I can put a 42RLE automatic transmission in my 97 jeep wrangler , 4.0 6 cylinder ? Or if anybody knows where I can get a ( working ) 32RH , I'm in Fort knox KY , I'm looking around there .

    I don't see why you couldn't put a 42RLE auto behind your 4.0..... that's what I've got on my rubicon.
    As far as mating it up and anything that would need to be done to the computer.... I have absolutely no idea.

    Almost anything can be done with enough time and money.

    The 42RLE is computer controlled, and the transmission computer is tied into the engine management system. It should bolt up to the earlier 4.0 six but you would need to transfer over the entire computer system, transmission and engine. Older engine may not take the newer computer without modification of the sensors.

    Like I said, can be done - but prob easier to find another 32RH. Try:

    car-part.com for a trans near you. Should be pretty easy to find.
    05 LJ Unlimited Rubicon. RE 3.5" short arm lift. 1" body and motor mount lift. 35" BFG M/T KMII's. 5.13 gears. Skid row and Jeep Medic belly up skid plates. Rokmen and Jeeperman bumpers. PSC rockers and full corners. Line X'd interior. Warn 9.5ti. Dual batteries. Dual tops. Snorkel. Full and half doors.

    42rle is a very weak trans. Use the 32rh or an aw4
