    Default liftgate problem

    ok my liftgate (back door) on my 95 grand cherokee will not open... the handle works ..well it moves.. i can hear the door lock and unlock, but still nothing.. tried to take off the back panel but i cant get it off becuz the door is shut on it.. or does it come off , and i'm just not pulling hard enough? any help

    You should be able to take off the license plate recess and get to the moving parts for your lift gate. I have issues with my ZJ lift gate also, it requires me to Push in on the gate itself then activate the handle.

    Mine is due to twisting my unibody on one too many trails though.

    I had/have the same problem. Try pushing in on the door itself to the right of the handle while you try to open the door. Worked for me until I can get in there and fix it for good.

    im developing a similar problem it sticks on mine. i do what was mentioned above push in while opening the door

    i have a dub, and i know its completly different but i get a good pop sound opening my rear hatch and sometimes the handle seems to stick a bit more than others.

    ok tried everything but the removal of the lic plate thingy.. going to try that tomorrow.. but little worryed never taken it off... how do i do that with out missing it up...

    Hey NorCal, try this: ensure lift gate is unlocked. Pull on handle with your left hand(so you have some tension on the handle without breaking it). Reach over your left hand with your right hand,the give the area just to the left and below the handle assembly a manly(not girly) tap. This is the way I have to open my liftgate. Gotta give it the Fonzie Fist. Yea,funny but it works for me. If you dont know who the Fonze is faggeta'bout it. Just give the above a go......Good Luck!!!!!!
