    Default Tom Woods drive shafts

Any one running Tom Woods drive shafts?

Looking at the site, the prices for CJ shafts are good.

A hell of a lot better than the only place near me wants.

Last front shaft I had done locally cost me over $200, and I supplied the yokes!

That price was for 28" of heavy wall tube (@ $3.80 per inch!)
The machining to fit the yokes, and 2 standard U-joints.

And no balancing. (slip yoke was worn)

The Tom Woods front shaft is $189 or $219, depending on the spline, ( standard or full) and they use heavy wall tube also.

I've never run them, or known anyone who has. I need a front and rear (and I'll use the ones I have as trail spares)

Just wondering how they are, or if there's anyone else reputable out there.

I've retubed many a shaft, but all the ones I have now have worn slide yokes, and the fact that I'll be putting on over 6000 miles on the CJ in the next 90 days, I'd like a good set of shafts!

    Thanks! HB

I am... But have been running it for about a month, so no long term test.... But like you found, they were the best deal out of the reputable places.... The few guys that I know running Woodies for long term have no issues....

Another option you might want to check is HAD (High Angle Drive line). Their prices seem to be a little cheaper than TW's.
I ran a front TW's shaft for a while when I first got this jeep. I think every time I called them with questions I got Tom... friendly, and had no problem talking with me about any stupid issue I was having. They've got a great warranty and excellent customer service.
Only reason I got rid of the TW shaft, it became to short after my lift/tummy tuck. I think my HAD shaft was about $100 cheaper. Have had that for about a year now with no problems.

HAD and JE REEL are prolly the 2 biggest and best supporters of the offroad community.

JE REEL AND HAD also build most of the driveshafts for alot of comp guys.

I have run HAD and they were on a CJ--No complaints whatsoever. Price was real good and shipping was fast as well.

I've got HAD too.....used on both my 4Runner and CJ. Good shafts but just as good as TW's from what I've seen.

I called Tom Woods for a quote, to make sure the prices on thier site are still good.

Tom answered the phone! I told him what I needed, he asked a few questions, and gave my a price.

    So, I ordered from him!

$478 delivered, for both front and rear shafts, with full length splines, heavy wall tubes, and thier 'Gold Seal' U-joints.

Could have gotten standard spline ones for $60 less, but it's the spline part that always wears out on me

Much better than the $380 the local (and only one near me) shop quoted, for just the front shaft!

When he said $380, I didn't even ask about the rear shaft.

HAD has a weird website, but I suppose with driveshafts on lifted/modified rigs, a phonecall is better anyway.
