Default YJ Fuel gauge always reads Full.

    Its a 90 YJ with the 4.2L
I have checked the gauge with another cluster that I know works, still dose the same. I have checked the sending unit with another one and still the same thing. I have made sure and bent out the contact point in the sending unit. I am at a loss.

In addition to the sending unit I would consider that a common mod for YJs is to take out the filler neck portion thingy to gain an extra 5 gallons of fuel. Someone could have done this and botched something. Usually it just makes the gauge read a little lower than it actually is. How much fuel are you getting in there?

    Sounds like a grounding issue.

in my experiance a bad gage tends to read full or completely in accurate but a bad ground will read empty try using a known good ground sand see if it moves any....then you got a starting point
