    Default engine dieing at idle

    keep an on going problem just its recently got worse i did the turn key 3 times code reader and got 12-17-43 im thinkin 43 is a misfire..its got a 8month old battery, new cap rotor and plug wires..guess ill just change plugs next? Anyone have any suggestions?

    Little more info please. What year, model, engine, tranny? Done any work to it recently? Happens all of the time or only cold, hot? Did you just fill up with a fresh tank of gas and then this started happening? With the codes you posted, I would think you have an OBD I rig, but then you should have pulled a 55 also.
    I have to go to work now, but maybe someone else can point you in the right direction.

    97 jeep wrangler sport 4.0 jeep had my rear end rebuilt and transfer case rebuilt but had the problem before any of that..it isnt the gas as its done this for awhile yea i did have a 55 code but i know that one means end of codes

    Check your CPS (crank position sensor)
    Also check for vacum leaks.

    i had this problem before when i had first got the jeep..but then my oil pressure was dropping to 0 and turning off..that fixed with a oil pressure sensor..but this is stupid i get mabye 5-10mins of run time..then is just falls on its face would sparkplugs do this? ive cleaned out the throttle body before but havent taken off the IAC and cleaned it out prolly gunna go the route of atleast checking the plugs and then the iac then ill check the above mentioned stuff

    i thought fuel filter too, but i was told it was supposed to be a lifetime fuel filter..
