Question Skid Plate Bolt Holes Stripped

I recently replaced my clutch and when taking the skid plate off two of the three bolt holes on the driver side stripped out. Has anybody had this problem and if so how did you fix it? I was thinking about just notching the frame out and replacing the bottom portion with 3/4" steel. Any suggestions?

BTF or ballistic had a weld in bung, grind down the tack welds holding the stock one in, weld new one in.

Either will work if there's enough steel there. Probably are 'nutserts' that stripped.

The good heli-coil kits are spendy, but worth it.

Best bet, and much easier than cutting the frame and welding in thicker steel.

Although, I did see one rig this happened to. The owner welded a strip of plate, 2" wide and 3/16" thick, along the bottom of the frame rail. Then he drilled and tapped the plate.

He lost 3/16" clearance, but that's not a big deal.

I am going to have to notch the frame out instead of the heli coil or bungs. We looked inside the frame after grinding one of the bungs out and the frame is to rusted. After the work is done I am going to fill the holes with something to prevent any further rusting. One thing after another.
