The cross brace should be fine.
I am moving up to 35" tires on my 05 unlimited, is it a safe bet to add a steering box brace that goes from the output arm on the box across to the frame on the other side. Or is there a better way to reinforce the box?
Thanks
The cross brace should be fine.

Some steering box skid plates add some reinforcement to the box as well. They aren't that much, easy to make if you DIY. But the cross brace should be fine.
I found this one and it is pretty much the standard design.

I know of a couple of people that run the Rusty's Offroad brace and really pleased with it.

That one ^^^, the Rusty's is cheaper too. I wonder if they offer a military discount?
Perhaps one of the vendors can get one cheaper?
