    Default Rear tire wobble

The rear tire on my TJ wobbles constantly, i made sure the lugs were tight, even rotated tires, but the wobble continues. I'm hoping I won't have to replace the axle... any suggestions?

have you had a 4 wheel alignment done recently? I would do that, and see what the readings are. Another suggestion, pull the shafts out and swap them.. see if the wobble moves.

Oh yeah, go post an intro. Welcome to the site.

I mhave the same problem on the D44 I just built for my CJ

Mine is a bent axle flange. It's not much, but it wobbles.

To find it, I did 2 things.

1st: I jacked the rear end up, placed a chunk of steel next to the tire, and spun the wheel. The tire (at the outside edge of a 33") moved 'in and out' about 1/2".

2nd: I pulled the tire, and did a run out test on the axle flange, using a dial indicator. The flange (7" across) was out by 15 thousanths.

I don't have a new shaft for it yet, but I'm working on a temporary fix.

Should know this week if it's gonna work, keep ya posted.

i had the same issue with my 8.8 when I first put it in. A buddy of mine was following me home on post one day and told me the tire looked like it was going to fall off . Limped it home, swapped out one of the shafts. The flange was bent, just put the damn thing in . No biggie. I at least learned how to swap shafts (never had to do it before).

    Hope this helps.
