    Default need some suggestions....

ok, i got the go ahead from the wife to spend no more than $750. i have the 2.5l manual which means 4.10 gears in a 30 front, 35 rear setup. i'm only running 31s and plan on running that way for a while yet. i have no plans to go bigger than a 33 on this jeep. I already have good tires. so the dilemma is this:

where do i spend the money and get the most off road performance for my $$ while still keeping the heep as my DD?

should i put a locker in one axle for now and do the other the next time i get some $$?

should i go with one of those powertrax kits and do both axles?

if i lock one axle should i do the front or the rear first?

with a 2in BB would i benefit from swaybar discos?

like i said i only have $750 to spend...what are some thoughts?

IMHO I would say warn 8000. Get a warn winch. There going fo about 550 now. And will last you and get you out of huge jams. You wont regret. But I have been in that spot where only a winch would do and its not fun.

As for what to lock if you go that route. Lock the front. I wouldnt dump any money into a turyfive even on 33s. I have a loc rite in front and its nice. But Iwould go recovery first if I had to do it over. The more you wheel the better your skills will get and better jams you will get in needing.yup you guessed it a winch.

Sway bar disconnects are a good investment. They can keep both your front tires on the ground more when climbing over stuff, which is key with an open diff in the front.

Also, as far as recovery goes, go to www.nora-usa.com.
A one-year membership goes for around $30, and they have a deal where you can pick up a Superwinch LP8500 for a little under $400. Plus, the next time you're ready to buy more jeep stuff, they have coupons you can use with a bunch of other off-road related companies. It more than pays for itself.

forgot to mention this but I already have a winch on the front. But I think I am leaning towards lockin the front. What Locker would y'all reccomend considering my budget? And keeping in mind she is still my dd.

You can't go wrong with an Aussie. I have them front and rear of my CJ, and love them! On my third one, the first 2 are fine, but I upgraded from the M20 to a D44 rear axle, so I ordered another Aussie

IMO, I would swap out the D35 with an 8.8 or a D44.

As far as which end to lock first, my vote is the rear (but not the 35)

    Read this, it's pretty interesting.

BTW: quick disco's and longer brake lines are also a good investment!

you can get a 2"BB and 1"BL for about $180 (I ran for a year and liked). longer shocks for 3-4" lift $150 (Nitro 8000) I have and like gave me tons of flex. This will get your 33's in with no problem.

Quick discos I used the Lowes method and it worked great, never had to replace in 2 years.
two 3.5x 7/16" hitch pins, four grade 8 washers, and two 3/16" safety pin or whatever fits the hitch pin you buy. Use that to replace the factory torx on the axle end of your discos. You have quick discos for about $10.
There was a write up on Jeep forum long time ago.

He has a 2" BB. I guess he should've done a quick "Build List".

Only reason I know is because I met him this weekend.

Zach, I say you keep the BB. Get disconnects via Ghost's method. Then you're only down to $740

I like the quick disco idea. Gonna have to hit lowes tomorrow and see what I can come up with. But as for dumping the "turdy-five". If you know where I can get a new axle with the right gearing for $740, you let me know!!! And come to think of it I think I have a daystar 1" BL down in the basement.

shoot, you're all set, 3" of lift on hand. I ran 30/35 with 33's and didnt break anything-and I wasnt real gentle, dumb luck? maybe.

I gathered parts for my axles as I wheeled it and then put 44/60 axles on.
I wouldnt lock the 35, maybe the 30 if you plan on running it for awhile.
