Pull it and swap with a kickass custom. IMO
The airbag light is on in my Jeep and the horn doesn't work. The light is on pretty much constantly but does flicker on and off every now and then. The horn stopped working when the light came on. I was told it might be the "clockspring" but I have no idea what or were that is.Any ideas?
Is this an easy fix or will I need to go to a dealer? Also, any idea how much this might cost to fix?

That would be great if I had one. Don't really care about the airbag but I kinda need the horn. Won't pass a safety check without it.

this is your clock spring that went out, it's going to cost you a pretty penny at the dealer, look for a used one on ebay, or go to a salvage yard and pull one yourself. In order to get to your clockspring, you'll have to take off your steering wheel. Here is a link to a cheaper place than the dealer for a new one: http://www.jeepsareus.com/Merchant2/..._Code=CHEROKEE
and here is a write up on how to change it out: http://www.links4jeeps.com/writeups/clockspring/
Is there any way to bypass this and just get the horn to work? I could give a rats @ss about the airbag. I just need to get the horn working before I go back to the sandbox so MrsJeepers can use it.

So she can use the horn or the Jeep??? JK... Now with your safety inspections do they care about the airbag light being on or not?? Cause here they won't pass you if that or a few other warning lights are on or even if they don't work (I tried removing the bulb so the light wasn't on).... But other than that, you should very easily be able to bypass the clockspring as far as the horn goes... I will try and see if I can't find a writeup on that for you, but I am sure someone else will find one before I can...
Cool thanks. I'm going to hit up a few of the local junkyards today to see what I can rustle up. As far as the safety inspections go, I'll remove the bulb so they won't see the light. I seriously doubt they are going to want to actually see the airbag work!![]()

make sure the steering wheels match. You don't want to lose cruise if you have it already. And you will care about the airbag if have an accident. Insurance won't cover you if you're missing a piece of safety equipment. Not to mention the fact that you don't really want to eat your steering wheel.

Not replacing the steering wheel and I don't have cruise (be nice but...). Right now I'm just looking for a cheap, stop-gap fix, until I have the cash to fix it properly. I'm more concerned with the horn working than the airbag. Besides, the harness keeps me from eating the steering wheel.
