    Default Is A D44 a D44?

I found a Dana 44 Detroit but it says it is for a Chevy Dana 44. It should fit any Dana 44 except a Rubicon Right?

Yep. Watch your carrier breaks though. 373 and higher (ie 342 331) and 392 and lower (ie 410 456). IIRC the D44A out of the grand cherokee is also different, but other wise a D44 is a D44.

    Default Dana 44ss

And don't forget about the Dana 44s Found in Isuzu rodeos and Honda passports...they have thick rings so may or may not interchange. If you can find a part number I would scrub it through a data base to confirm its origin and application.

Nothing to do with gears but also tube thickness is different from say 1/2 tons and 3/4 tons etc.

the gear set makes a difference in the locker, but I am unsure that 3/4 to 1/2 makes a difference

as long as its a D44, not a 6 lug isuzu, not a rubicon, not a JK 44 they should all be the same.

also if its a coarse spline (like mid 70's and older) they had like 19 spline shafts and wont work either.
