    Question Window blown out????

I was leaving work last night and i opened my passenger door, threw my backpack in, closed it, walked around to the driver side and got in. When I closed my driver door the window (driver side) on my hard top blew out. The blown out hole was about as big as a dinner plate and the rest of the glass was just shatterd, but still held together. What could cause this? Is it a pressure thing? And what am I looking at, cost wise to fix it?

Goto your local glass shop not the dealer. It's hard to find the glass used but you may try a salvage yard too. IDK what kind of insurance you have but they may cover it. I had the same thing happen to my old silverado. I washed it and when I retuned it was all spidered but still in place, till I opened the door, then it all fell out in slow motion. I'd expect the sun caused it.

Did your jeep come new with a hard top?
Does your tail gate look like it's got vents in it?
I believe most newer wranglers have vents in the tailgate that allow for any extra pressure to escape. Not sure what year they started doing it in, but my '05 had them. Prior to that, I think they were only an option if your jeep came with a hard top from the factory.

I don't think it's a pressure issue. It is probally a heat stress issue. Are the windows tinted?

No tint. Could high winds have anything to do with it, like maybe a rock hit it or something? We had 40mph gusts yesterday.

If there was a crack started in just the right spot a door slam may have caused ti to spread. I know some times if you take the palm of your hand and hit a rock chip it can send it over the rest of the glass.
