Check your sway bar end links, and check your axle shaft u joints. Aside from those, if the bar pins in the rear upper shock mounts have any play.. they'll pop and clunk around.
wierd but every once in a while when i start my jeep and slowly back up or sometimes even move forward i will hit my brakes and hear a pop sound coming from what sound like underneath my jeep in the suspension somewhere sometimes it sounds like the left side and sometimes the right side. visibly everything looks good and tight but ever since i went wheeling last week ive noticed it. gonna get under it tonight and get a better look see but thought you guys might enlighten me if youve had this problem before

Generally the disco's have play in them and will pop when cornering or when the load shifts during driving. you may have "unstuck" them when you disconnected. I usually just grease the parts that insert into the disconnect tube and it quiets it down.
if you have the lower shock extender mount I'd retighten them as well. I had a heck of a time getting mine to stop moving and in the end ran a bead on them.

My rear track bar does that when it shifts between the bracket.

If it makes the pop in sraight line forward or backward I look at the control arm bushings... Do you have an aftermarked lift that come with control arms??? When was the last time you nut and bolt your jeep????
