If you are just wanting to put a hard top on there that is as easy as putting it on there and installing some bolts. If you are talking about setting up the washer and defrost, that is a bit more work.
It's not that soft tops don't do well in the snow, I just think you have to be more vigilant in ensuring that you don't get too much accumulation on the top. That is just a matter of weight at that point. Also with a soft top, if it is frozen it would be possible to break plastic windows or even split the fabric with the wrong move.
