    Default Aluminum and Hurculiner

    Can anybody out there throw me some advice on prep'ing an aluminum body tub for a roll-on bed liner?? I'm looking at applying to the underside and wheel wells b-4 I mount and wanna do it right once!!! It's well scuffed and clean. primer and etch???

    I'd shoot it with a self etching primer first then Herc it. I put the Dupli-Color stuff over virgin aluminum and it peeled off after a year or so.

    For painting aluminum I wipe it down with vinager (acts as an acid wash), wipe off with acetone then use zinc chromate primer. Spray multiple light (dusting) coats till covered, then paint. Don't know about liner coatings. I do know it is very important to make aluminum is clean. Did I mention "clean the aluminum"? Good luck!

    I heard somewhere you had to clean the aluminum really good!! HA!!

    Never heard of the vinager as an acid wash...I'll keep it in mind. Right now I'm wire wheelin' anything that shines!! Hope to finish up the underside prep and get the transmission installed this weekend. RE
