    Default Losing power while driving...

this has happened a few times now and it is strange. When I am driving down the road the jeep starts to lose power and all I have to do is give it enough gas to make it down shift and then it goes back to normal, however today after doing this it did not. So I stopped on the side of the road and let it idle for a minute then I drove at a slow speed for a little bit and after that it was running fine again.

Any one else ever have this happen? Just trying to get some help trouble shooting the problem.

Before you ask, yes my check light is on and has been forever.

Have you tried the "key turn" trick to see if it's throwing any codes?

I had something similar to this when I had my ZJ. It happened only on hills. Turned out some solenoids had to be replaced in the tranny. Start by flushing the tranny. See what happens. Hope you don't need a new tranny. The 42re trannies are notorious for blowing up.

There's a difference between OBD I and II vehicles, so make sure you follow the ones for I.

I was having a similar problem and it turned out to be plugged cats, not saying that is your problem though. And I have 262,000 miles on mine.
I'm Mike, make sure you spell it right, because I do not want to get the wrong A$$hole in trouble.

If you do not have time to do it right the first time, how do you have time do do it over?
