    Default Dana 30 & 35 Gearing

My '97 TJ has a Dana 30 and 35 with 3.07 gears while running 33's. I want to go higher for cheap. How high can I go without changing the carrier? I have gotten many different answers, including from shops that do it for a living. Thanks!

find a rear axle from a 4 popper tj and a front hp 30 from a 4 popper xj just bolt them in and go both have 4.10 gears and no gear set up fee and it could be done in a drive way in less than a day

do not spend any more money on a d35 than you have to it makes a better boat anchor than an axle if you want to regear an axle for a tj grab a tj d44 and run and regear that or if you got some fab skills an 8.8 out of the rear of an exploder will come with 4.10's

I have my 3:55 gears from my 30/35. they are like new with only about 25,000 miles on them. I had detroit tru tracs put in and kept my gears. PM me if you are interested.
I'm Mike, make sure you spell it right, because I do not want to get the wrong A$$hole in trouble.

If you do not have time to do it right the first time, how do you have time do do it over?

3.73 is the carrier break, and regearing to 3.73 to run 33's will not be worth your time. If you are going to regear, 4.10+ carriers are not that expensive. Gearhead1985's idea would likely be the cheapest option.
