Default So, I bought stuff to Herculine my jeep tub

Never done this before, I just went and kind of got the stuff I thought I needed.

I got a Herculiner Kit that had a gallon of the stuff plus some rollers and then I got an extra quart just incase. I also got Acetone and some steel wool stuff and sand paper.

I hope to Herculine my tub the weekend that the welding is done, so I am going to start removing stuff from the inside of the jeep this weekend to start on some of the prep work.

When the weekend of the welding party rolls around, I will have everything removed, the inside prepped and just waiting to have the bolts welded to hold the little cage I made for the back, before applying the Herculiner.

I have an Unlimited, so it will be interesting to see if that is enough to do a good job. I also have the floor mounts for the sport cage which are bolted to the frame mounts through the drain holes which are going to be a pain. I RTV'd the heck out of that area of the jeep to keep the water out. Now I am going to have to go in and try to get all that RTV out.....unless I can just Herculine over it

If I recall right, you need Xylene for clean-up/thinning. It's not bad to do, prep is the key.

Wear clothes you can throw away, or don't care about, the stuff is messy! (it's also hard to get off the garage floor)

Get a box of latex or nitrile gloves. (I used armpit length gloves, used for dressing out big game, worked great!)

With one gallon, I did the interior of my CJ tub, both flat fenders (inside and out) and my rear bumper, so with a gallon and extra quart, you should be good.

I think I read in the instruction that you use Xylene for thinning and the Acetone or Xylene for help in prepping the area.

I am going to start sanding this weekend and then by next weekend, I should only have to sand under and right around where the drivers seat is.

Cannot see the photos at work, but did you use one coat or two in the tub? I hope to hit it with two as recommended in the instructions.

I hope you're ready for the smell that comes with it for a bit.
