Default TJ question about motor mount lift.

Do I need a body lift to install a motor mount lift?

Not sure, but the reason it was recommended that I install the motor mount lift was because I had installed the body lift.

Why would you do a motor mount lift unless you needed to?

Awesome Jeep Photos by the way on Jeep Forum. Someone started a thread her about them.

They are also done to help alleviate driveline binding in conjunction with a belly-up or higher lifts. Most people do them with a body lift simply to avoid having to deal with repositioning the fan shroud, but the normal mechanical reason is to help with severe driveline angles and take some of the stress of the short rear shaft and transfer it to the longer, and more forgiving, front driveshaft.

That is my humble understanding of it anyway.

    What he said...

I guess what I was trying to say is that if you are not doing the body lift, what are the benefits of doing the motor mount lift.

Depending on what you are doing there can be reasons as mentioned for doing it.

Personally I like the Brown Dog Motor Mounts. Nice and beefy. Here's a link - http://www.browndogindustries.com/ Free shipping and they were cheaper than the big names.

Rusty's mounts are nice too, and comperably priced. Also, they have rubber bushings so they won't necessitate replacing your tranny mount to urethane when you put them on. (If you have poly on the motor, you should on the tranny as well...same goes for rubber)

I'm to poor for a oil pan skid so I was hoping to bump the oil pan up a lil. Guess I'd be better off staying away from the big stuff for a while and save up.
