Bottom corner of my hard top is now broken. Dont want to spend $2000 on a new hard top. Was looking at either the Bestop Trek top or the viking top. I like the look they have but my question is does anyone know how well they hold up with no bows and do they restrict the back seat passengers since they are on an angle?

I just picked up a bestop supertop with the hardware for 150 down in MA. I would NOT suggest using a softop without the hardware as it tends to look like a flabby sack of crap when you do. Also if you drive faster than 40 MPH ever it will flap and cause excessive noise in the cabin. additionally, the bestop ones are held in place by hardware plates and the tension of the bows. Pretty much a no-go without the proper hardware.


Your best bet is to buy a used soft or hard top. I have one up here in Maine if you would want to come get it .

tellish, what kind of jeep do you have? you'll need door surrounds and a few other small pieces of hardware as well to make sure you can secure it properly to the jeep.

It's a TJ. I know I atleast will need door surrounds. I already have the windshield channel because I run a safari top all summer. I thought I saw someone on here that had one of those trek tops or Viking tops.

there's also two pieces you'll need for the back tailgate i think. i'll let someone with either tops to respond.

"Requirements: The Viking Fast Back requires a Windshield Channel (Header Bar) by Bestop, Smittybilt or equivalent. If you are switching from a hard top you will also need a Tail Gate Bar and Door Surrounds."

Since the rear seat sits within the rear sport bar the rear passenger spot should be just fine.

You almost got it, the two brackets are screwed on the tub. The breckets are were the tailgate bar is attached to......

How bad is the hard top damaged? It should be just fiberglass. A good glass man should be able to repair it I would think.

I have a Trek Top on my JK Unlimited. I love the way it looks, but it is really loud when compared to the factory soft tops. The seals around the door surrounds pretty much suck too. But, I know the TJ is entiely different, and I heard they fit much better. I actually have heard good reveiws about Rampage's bowless softtop for the TJ, may be worth checking into.
